Critical reception

Bloodbuzz Ohio received critical reviews as being the first single from High Violet. One Thirty BPM states that "it was both the most simple moment on the album and the most potent, cutting deep gashes in the heart of the city Matt Berninger had thus far only poked at."[3] Pitchfork Media's review stated that Bloodbuzz Ohio was "a tense, drawn-out build with Matt Berninger's weathered baritone lording all over everything".[4]

Music video

Matt Berninger is the main focus of the first video from High Violet which shows him dapper in a suit, holding a drink, and walking the streets of New York City, seemingly lost in thought as he sings.[5]

It was directed by Hope Hall, Andreas Burgess and Matt’s wife Carin Besser.[6]
